Baltic Engineers buys Finnish experience

Baltic Engineers UAB Consulting Engineers and Project Managers bought 100% of shares of a Lithuanian subsidiary of Finnish Project Management Company Pöyry PLC. This transaction enables the Lithuanians to manage more engineering projects and to strengthen their positions in the Baltic region.

By acquiring the subsidiary of Pöyry and taking into account the recovering region’s economies, Baltic Engineers UAB aims at developing project management activities and increasing their influence in the market of Baltic countries in the environment of a growing number of investment projects and increasing demand for project management and engineering consultancy services.

“In order to expand, we had to choose one of the two possibilities: to recruit more employees and train them or to acquire a whole company with available professionals. We chose the latter option: the Finnish company has been in Lithuania since 2003 and has accumulated valuable experience”, explains the reasons of the transaction Mr. Darius Kvedaras, Managing Director of Baltic Engineers UAB.

This year, Baltic Engineers UAB is launching several new projects the implementation of which will require additional resources. According to Mr. Kvedaras, the company so far had 16 professionals, but this number will grow after completion of the transaction. With regard to future projects in Lithuania, it is worthwhile mentioning such projects as setting of a new Kitron ASA distribution centre for electronic components in Kaunas, wind power farm in Šilutė consisting of 17 wind turbines with a total capacity of 40 MW, RIMI shopping centre covering 3500 sq. m in Palanga.

“It is not a coincidence that we have chosen Finnish Pöyry PLC, the company which has implemented more than 40 projects over a decade of its activities in the Baltic region. We were impressed by the development and reconstruction projects for Stockman shopping centre in St. Petersburg, Mars Lietuva pet food plant in Gargždai, Vilniaus duona plius UAB and Panevėžio duona AB”, comments Darius Kvedaras.

Baltic Engineers UAB was a Lithuanian subsidiary of Danish Ramboll Group for 10 years and is well familiar with Scandinavian work experience which is to be further developed in Lithuania. In 2012, the turnover of Baltic Engineers UAB amounted to LTL 2.5 million.
