KONE to equip redeveloped Kuntsevo Center in Moscow
KONE has won a contract to provide the new Kuntsevo Center in Moscow, Russia, with 101 pieces of equipment, including elevators, escalators and autowalks. The redeveloped multi-use complex will rise to a height of up to 75 meters and feature 38 KONE MonoSpace® Special elevators, a KONE TranSys(TM) elevator, 47 KONE TravelMaster(TM) escalators and 14 KONE Travel Master(TM) 115 autowalks. A dumbwaiter with an unusually rapid speed of 0.63 meters per second (compared to a more common 0.3 m/s) will also be delivered to the site. A ten-year maintenance contract is included in the agreement.
Located in the historic Kuntsevo district of Western Moscow, Kuntsevo Center is being positioned as a new landmark for the city. The new and expanded mixed-use development will include a large, modern shopping mall, two residential towers, a cluster of state-of-the-art office buildings, and a 2,000-car parking facility. The total area is 246,000 square meters.
The passenger elevators to be installed at the site feature unique car interior designs that combine mirror-polished and brushed stainless steel walls and perforated ceilings. The distinctive escalators and autowalks contain a non-standard solution of lighting inside the truss.
"We appreciate the opportunity to contribute to this important development, which is set to bring new vitality to Moscow's Kuntsevo district. Strong project management and good collaboration have enabled us to find the innovative People Flow® solutions that are best-suited for this important development," says KONE's Country Director for Russia Maaret Heiskari.
Demolition of the existing shopping center began in July 2011, and the new development is scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2014. KONE's customer in the project is Turkish construction company ENKA Construction and the building is designed by architecture firm The Jerde Partnership.
The order was booked in the first quarter of 2013.
