Meka’s cable ladder production expands to St. Petersburg
Meka Pro Oy, the leading Finnish manufacturer of cable support systems, has reached a new milestone, for the company is opening its first production plant abroad. The opening ceremonies of the OOO Rumeka plant, Meka Pro Oy’s subsidiary company, will be held in the Parnas industrial zone in St. Petersburg on 16 March.
The OOO Meka sales company, established by Meka Pro, has been operating in Russia already for a couple of years. In 2010, the production company OOO Rumeka was established in St. Petersburg as well. Together these companies will provide Meka even better preparedness to answer to the challenges of the growing Russian markets and demonstrate the effectiveness of their operations.
Meka Pro’s Managing Director Petteri Jokitalo stresses the importance of the St. Petersburg plant in the expansion and internationalisation of Meka’s business operations.
“For us, Russia is a highly crucial market area with which we want to increase our share in the cable support product markets. We have supported the realisation of growth by establishing a production plant in St. Petersburg. In the future, we will be able to answer more efficiently to the wishes and requirements of our Russian customers. The plant’s opening will bring clear benefits to our local customers, such as shorter delivery times as well as cost savings due to decreased transport costs.”
The Rumeka plant manufactures cable support systems from hot galvanised steel sheets to Russian customers. The first deliveries from the new plant were already shipped to customers at the end of last year.
