SOK to open third Prisma hypermarket in Riga

SOK has completed an agreement to open a third Prisma hypermarket in Riga. The new hypermarket, which will be erected in the affluent suburb of Imanta, is set to open its doors in the spring of 2011.

The new Imanta Prisma will have a total floor area of approx. 8,500 square metres and it will employ 100 professionals.

Imanta and its immediate surroundings are home to over 70,000 residents. Traffic in the area is busy and good public transportation services are readily available as a bus and tram stop is located right outside the upcoming hypermarket. In addition, customers of the Prisma hypermarket will have use of 750 parking spaces.

The new Imanta Prisma will be located in the old “Radio technology” premises at the address Kurzemes Prospect 3. The property will go through a complete overhaul before the opening. The building will also house a fast food restaurant as well as commercial premises for other trade businesses and service providers. The property will be renovated by the local construction company.

"During the coming years, we intend to open a total of six Prisma hypermarkets around Riga. Prisma's advantages on the Riga market are a consistently low price level, wide selection and the ease of centralised shopping," explains Managing Director of AS Prisma Latvija, Pekka Sääskilahti .
