Regional State Administrative Agency for Southern Finland grants Nord Stream AG permit to build gas pipeline in Finland’s Exclusive Economic Zone

On 12 February 2010 the Regional State Administrative Agency for Southern Finland granted Nord Stream AG the permit to build its gas pipeline from Russia to Germany through Finland’s Exclusive Economic Zone. The gas pipeline will comprise two pipelines occupying 375 kilometres of Finland’s EEZ. The pipeline will be used to transport 55 billion m3 of natural gas annually to Germany and from there to several other European countries.

The Regional State Administrative Agency for Southern Finland granted permission to commence work before the decision is due to enter into force.
