Russian Vartti serving travellers
In June, the city paper Vartti will also be available in Russian. The Russian edition of Vartti (Kvartal) is produced in cooperation by Sanoma Kaupunkilehdet and the Russian monthly magazine Spektr, which has been published in Finland since 1998. The paper has a circulation of 50,000 copies and is available at the three eastern frontier crossing points (Imatra, Nuijamaa, Vaalimaa), as well as in hotels, shopping centres, and tourist information offices in South Karelia, Kymenlaakso, Eastern Uusimaa, and the Helsinki metropolitan area. The paper is also distributed in St. Petersburg in locations accessible to travellers.
The target group of the Kvartal paper consists of nearly two million Russian travellers, over 700,000 of whom visit the paper's area of distribution. The paper also serves the 50,000 Russians living in Finland.
"Russian Vartti is good addition to our offering. It enables us to reach a clear and growing target group with purchasing power. In making the paper, we can utilize Vartti's existing network efficiently," says Niko Ruokosuo, President of Sanoma Kaupunkilehdet Oy.
According to Vladimir Gusatinsky, Chief Executive of Spektr kustannus Oy, the project meets the information needs of travellers from Russia.
"In addition to topical information, travellers coming to Finland also want basic information on practices and customs in Finland. I hope that the paper also helps products and services find buyers more easily."
The contents of the paper include travel articles with background information, as well as current news and upcoming events. The June issue covers events up to August. The future of the Kvartal paper depends on the volume of sales and the interest of advertisers. The publishers aim to bring out three issues of the paper this year.
