Russian company starts large scale vehicle transports by rail
Rail Trans Auto aims for a 20% market share in vehicle transports in Russia. Operations start this year.
Russian railway company RZD owns 51% of Rail Trans Auto and private Russian company Trans Group owns 49%. The president of the new company is Viktor Ivanov, who has previously worked as e.g. the deputy railway minister of Russia. Executive vice president is Gennadi Bardakov.

The company intends to bring the total number of wagons to 5 0007 000 in the next couple of years.
"The new company's goal for the coming years is to reach a 20% market share of vehicle transports in Russia", says executive vice president Gennadi Bardakov.
In addition to rolling stock the new company needs modern terminals. Terminals covering dozens of hectares will be built in Moscow, Jekaterinburg, Novosibirsk and Kaliningrad.
Moskow's terminal will be completed already in 2007 and those in Jekaterinburg and Novosibirsk in 2008. Customs facilities will be built at the terminals which will be equipped with state of the art communications and security technolog
