Boost for Finnair flights to St Petersburg

As of this summer, flights linking Helsinki and St Petersburg are being operated 20 times a week as the result of the recently-granted three additional weekly flights covered by a code share agreement between Finnair and the Russian airline Rossiya. Flights operate three times daily except on Mondays, when there are two flights running.

“Demand for the connection between Finland and the St Petersburg area is growing all the time,” confirms Finnair sales manager Vesa Vilkkula. “The new flights strengthen our Asian strategy too, because they create new connections between Japan and China and St Petersburg, and vice versa. In addition, we can also offer new fast connections from Scandinavian destinations and other places in Europe to St Petersburg.”

Finnair aircraft operate on the new Wednesday afternoon flights and Boeing 737 aircraft belonging to the Rossiya fleet – previously Pulkovo Airlines – serve the route on Thursdays and Saturdays. Departure time from Helsinki, linking well with Asian flight arrivals, is at 16.20 and arrival at St Petersburg is a mere 55-minute flight later, at 18:15local time.

Finnair also flies to Moscow in Russia, with seven weekly flights. A code share cooperation with Aeroflot gives good morning and evening connections for Russian and Finnish business and tourist passengers between the Finnish and Russian capitals.
