L&T to start up environmental management services in Sergiev Posad in Russia

L&T is extending their environmental management services to the city of Sergiev Posad located in the Moscow region in May. L&T has signed an agreement with Sergiev Posad to cover the city’s environmental management. In the starting phase, operations will focus on waste collection, transport and recycling.

– Environmental issues are gaining importance in Russia as well. Environmental management requires significant investments, experience and expertise. L&T can meet all requirements to secure sustainable development in this sector, says L&T’s Pertti Tammivuori, Director, Environmental Services, Russia.

– Our way of working meets the environmental visions and needs of Sergiev Posad’s city management. Our most important task in Sergiev Posad is to offer improved service quality. Investments and introduction of new technologies are an important part of this process. Extensive information and ongoing interaction with residents will gradually raise Sergiev Posad to an entirely new level within environmental management.

L&T’s environmental management company has been operating in Dubna in the Moscow Province since 2005 and targets to gradually expand their operations in the region. Start of business in Sergiev Posad located about 70 km northeast of Moscow is an important step forward in this direction.

L&T is targeting to increase their operations in the countries in the Baltic Sea region and further into Russia by way of organic growth as well as company acquisitions.

– We are currently negotiating other environmental management related projects in Russia, too, says Pertti Tammivuori.

– Russia will need to undertake several extensive environmental management related investments in the years to come. As an international high-quality service provider, L&T is fully prepared to implement these.
