Finnish Sisu Auto delivering 45 SISU Timber truck combinations to Russia
Finnish truck manufacturer Oy Sisu Auto Ab will deliver 45 factory-ready SISU C500 Timber truck combinations to OAO Kondopogas pulp&paper mill in Russia.
The three-axle SISU C500 Timber 6x2 timber trucks are powered by the Caterpillar C13 ACERT Euro 3 engine with 445 hp (327 kW). The vehicle has a synchronized 16-gears ZF gearbox.
The vehicles are delivered factory-ready and ready to drive. The delivery also includes a Loglift 82 S 79 timber crane and a fixed three-axle JYKI V3-TO timber trailer.
Scheduled for delivery in 2007, the SISU timber trucks will substantially increase the transportation capacity of the pulp&paper mill in Kondopoga, the Republic of Karelia. Some 60 SISU timber trucks, which were delivered in the last decade, are already in daily use at the mill. After the delivery of the new vehicles, the mills SISU fleet will comprise more than 100 vehicles.
- The customer already had good experiences about SISU timber trucks, which it had been using for 14 years, and this was decisive for getting the deal. Another key factor here was the robustness of the SISU trucks and the fluent spare part supply service, which together secure year-around timber supplies to the plant in the demanding conditions prevailing in Russia, says Export Manager Ville Keinänen, who is responsible for Sisu Autos sales to Russia.
The SISU C500 Timber was originally designed for use as a timber truck, in which the customers special requirements concerning use and operating conditions were already taken into consideration at the design stage.
Deliveries to Kondopoga will start in June 2007 and the vehicles will be delivered in several batches during the year.
- The present deal will continue the delivery of new SISU trucks to Russia, which began last year, and support Sisu Autos strategy to increase exports, Mr. Keinänen says.
Sisu Auto delivered a total of 75 SISU SM timber trucks to Kondopoga paper mill in the early 1990s, of which more than 60 are still in use. According to the paper mills estimate, the current SISU fleet has carried more than 12 million cubic metres of timber during a period of 14 years.
The new SISU timber trucks will be delivered from Finland to Russia by trading house EEE-Trading Oy, which was founded in 2005.
EEE-Trading Oy pursues close cooperation with Kondopoga paper mill by delivering raw-materials, chemicals, machines and spare parts to the mill. EEE-Trading Oy is responsible for selling in Finland and Sweden the newsprint manufactured at Kondopoga paper mill.
OAO Kondopoga, which is situated at Kondopoga in the Republic of Karelia, is one of the largest newsprint paper mills in Eastern Europe.
In 2006, its production volume was over 700 thousand tons of paper, of which 70% was exported. The mill has been run by Vitali Federmesser since 1989. Under his management the mill has actively contributed to the building and development of the City of Kondopoga.
A culture hall, ice stadium and sports complex have been erected in the city since CEO Federmesser took over the post.
