Technopolis accelerates its expansion to St. Petersburg
Technopolis St. Petersburg, a fully-owned subsidiary of Technopolis Plc, has signed a long-term lease on premises that fulfil western requirements and that are located in the Pulkovo district near the airport and near Technopolis Pulkovo, which is yet to be built. Kari Mikkonen, Vice President of Russian Operations at Technopolis, says that the quick decision to undertake the pilot project was the result of strong demand by companies for high-quality facilities and services in St. Petersburg.
'This is also the way in which Technopolis started its successful operations in Oulu in 1982,' says Kari Mikkonen.
Timo Koponen, Head of Trade Center Finpro in St. Petersburg, says that the plans being made together with Technopolis for a Finnish innovation center in St. Petersburg are advancing at a fast rate. 'These premises will offer an excellent alternative to Finnish technology companies and development organizations in St. Petersburg,' says Timo Koponen.
In terms of the number of clients, Technopolis Plc is one of Europe's largest technology centers. It is Finland's largest company that specializes in providing operating environments for high tech companies and offers a comprehensive service package combining modern premises and business and development services. Technopolis operates in Oulu, Vantaa, Espoo, Jyväskylä, Lappeenranta and Tampere. It is expanding its operations to Russia. Some 12,000 people from 950 companies are currently working in its technology centers.
The companys shares are quoted on the mid-cap list of the Nordic Exchange.
