Repeat Harbour Crane Order from Russian Container Terminal
In September, Konecranes received an order from ZAO First Container Terminal (FCT) in St. Petersburg for two Panamax Ship-to-Shore (STS) container cranes. The value of the contract is approximately 10 MEUR, and the cranes will be delivered at the end of 2007.
ZAO First Container Terminal (FCT), based in St. Petersburg, Russia, has experienced substantial growth in container traffic with an increase of more than 35% from 2004 to 2005. The new STS-cranes will increase the container-handling capacity at the terminal by offering efficient loading and unloading of Panamax-sized vessels. The cranes have a lifting capacity of 50 tons, an outreach of 38 meters and are equipped with Konecranes AC electrical control system.
The cranes also feature a remote diagnostic system, which enables Konecranes to access crane service data, says Mika Mahlberg, Director, VLC. The predominant reason for winning this repeat order from FCT is the advanced technical features of our STS-cranes as well as Konecranes global service support system that we offer our customers.
The order includes a two-year preventive maintenance contract for the STS-cranes, a service supplied by ZAO Konecranes, the leading port service provider in Russia. Technical support will be provided through Konecranes office in St. Petersburg.
In addition to this order, Konecranes has, over the last three months, also been contracted for the delivery of one similar STS-crane to OJSC Petrolesport and one BoxHunter STS-crane to Multilink Terminals. Both customers are ports located in the St. Petersburg area. Konecranes delivered two STS-cranes to FCT in 2003.
