Blue Fox Pelt Sales Driven by Russia
The over 300,000 blue fox pelts offered at todays Finnish Fur Sales international auction were sold out for prices quoted at the June auction, in view of the differences between selections auctioned in June and September. Buyers came from Russia, Hong Kong/China, Turkey and Europe. Greater demand in Russia was clearly felt, with sales focusing on lightweight pelts suitable for collars, whose prices in some cases advanced from the June levels. The auction prices for regular-grade pelts averaged EUR 53.96 and blue fox pelts of domestic origin EUR 56.75.
- Strong sales of fox pelts recorded both yesterday and today suggest that the fur trim industry has high expectations for the coming retail season, says Pirkko Rantanen-Kervinen, Managing Director.
Following the blue fox pelts, around 100,000 pelts of the blue shadow fox, a blue fox mutation, were sold at the auction, the price of regular-grade pelts averaging EUR 52.16. Whitish blue shadow fox pelts have largely the same applications as blue fox pelts.
The auction will end tomorrow when blue fox pelts of lower-than-regular grades and the so-called spring pelts are offered.
