New fund to focus on Ukraine's emerging equity market
Sampo Fund Management Ltd has focused strongly on funds investing in Eastern Europe. The new Mandatum Ukraine Fund now to be launched will further expand Sampo Fund Management's range of East European funds. Mandatum Asset Management's top East European Investment Team is responsible for the fund's portfolio management.
Ukraine's equity market is just emerging. However, a number of interesting companies with promising future prospects can already be found. Of the funds managed by the East European Investment Team, the Mandatum Black Sea and Mandatum Russia Funds have already invested in Ukrainian companies.
"As most Ukrainian companies have not been extensively researched, it is possible through sustained research to find companies with good success prospects. The fund invests primarily in companies that will be able to capitalise on economic growth in Ukraine and in Russia, Ukraine's largest trading partner. The Ukrainian companies selected for the other funds we manage have already shown that the Ukrainian equity market is a very attractive investment alternative in terms of their return potential. But it is also worth remembering that, as a counterbalance to their return potential, the Ukrainian equity market contains substantial risks for the investor," says Ari Metso, Mandatum Asset Management Ltd's Investment Director heading the East European Investment Team.
From 19 September to 10 October, 2006, it will be possible to make one-time subscriptions with no subscription fee in the Mandatum Ukraine Fund. The fund's investment activity will commence on 26 September 2006. The minimum subscription sum will be EUR 500. Continuous fund saving agreements can be made for the fund, and it can be linked to Sampo's unit-linked insurance policies when investment activity is commenced.
"Our strong focus on the East European equity markets has been noticed because of the success of our funds. The new Mandatum Ukraine Fund is designed especially for risk-tolerant investors who want to invest some of their long-term assets in Ukraine," says Kimmo Laaksonen, Managing Director of Sampo Fund Management Ltd.
The fund's regulations, simplified fund prospectus and additional information on the fund can be obtained in Finnish from the addresses www.sampo.fi/rahastot and www.mandatum.fi/rahastot.
Even before the launch of the new Ukraine Fund, Sampo Fund Management had Finland's broadest range of emerging market funds.
