L&T and the city of Dubna establish joint venture
Lassila & Tikanoja (L&T), has established a joint venture company, The Russian-Finnish Company Ecosystem LLC (L&T Ecosystem), with the city of Dubna in Russia. The companys line of business is environmental management. L&T owns 74 % of the company, the rest is owned by the City of Dubna and the company management.
The joint venture was established in the autumn of 2004 and it started its operations on 3 May 2005. L&T Ecosystem is presently operating in the city of Dubna, but the target is to extend operations gradually to the surrounding cities. By means of a broad customer base, clients can be served at reasonable cost also during the ongoing start-up investment phase. The companys customer base includes industry, businesses, public corporations as well as inhabitants of the city of Dubna. L&T Ecosystem employs approximately 60 persons.
Dubna city is a scientific centre known all over the world, situated 125 km north of Moscow. Dubna was founded in 1956, and has a population of about 67,000 people.
L&T is implementing its strategy to invest in emerging markets in the areas close to Finland. L&T is focusing on investments in recycling plants for the processing of recyclable materials and extended international operations during the next two years. L&Ts long term goal is to establish a leading position in selected areas in Russia and in the Baltic countries. L&T is also negotiating about other environmental management related projects in Russia. In the field of property and industrial maintenance, L&T started operations in Moscow in the beginning of May by acquiring the business operations of the cleaning services provider Alfa Cleaning.
