POST ACQUIRES JOHN NURMINEN´S FASHION LOGISTICS BUSINESS OPERATIONS

Finland Post has acquired John Nurminen Oy’s Fashion Logistics business operations, expanding the Post’s Logistics services into a new area; delivering clothes on racks with vehicles specially equipped for such shipments. The business operations in question will transfer to Finland Post around April 30th 2005.

The business unit in question provides fashion logistics services to the clothing industry, importers and retailers, its services including deliveries on the rack and in packages, customs clearance and warehousing alongside value-added services such as re-conditioning services and collecting store-specific assortments.

Fashion Logistics operates in Lahti in facilities of 13,800 m2 and in Tallinn in a 3,500 m2 logistics centre located in the same building as the Post affiliate, Logia Estonia Oü, which provides warehousing services. The Fashion Logistics Unit has a staff of 44 in Finland and 4 in Estonia, all of whom will be employed by the Post on the same employment terms as before. The unit forms part of the European Fashionet network and had a turnover of EUR 9.3 million in 2004.

This acquisition will support Post Logistics’ strategy of focusing expansion on the Baltic Countries and Russia, which are becoming more significant areas in fashion logistics.

It will also help John Nurminen to concentrate on its core business areas in logistics.

Post Logistics is the most extensive logistics operator in Finland. Its operations focus on comprehensive logistics solutions combining the required electronic and physical services into ready, functional entities. Finland Post offers its customers extensive services for the entire order-delivery chain, both in Finland and its neighbouring regions, particularly the Baltic Countries and Russia. Post Group had a turnover of EUR 1 235,2 million in 2004, Post Logistics’s share of which amounted to EUR 254,1 million.
