Estonia is one of least corrupted new EU member states
Estonia is one of the least and Lithuania one of the most corrupted countries amongst the EU new member states, appears from the results of an extensive survey, conducted by the World Bank for the period 2002-2005. According to the survey less than a quarter of firms think the corruption is a problem in Estonia. With this figure Estonia remains behind Slovenia, where corruption is considered a problem by eighth of firms, but outraces Latvia and Lithuania, where a quarter and one third of firms consider the issue problematic. Lithuania is at the same one of the most corrupted amongst the EU new member states, only Poland and candidate countries Bulgaria and Romania stay ahead in that matter.

May’s growth of export 3% bigger than import
In May 2006 Estonia’s turnover of foreign trade was EEK 23.1 billion, of which export formed EEK 10.1 billion. Compared to last year’s Mat export is 27 percent bigger. Import increased 24 percent.

SEB Eesti Ühispank up 40%
The net profit of SEB Eesti Ühispank grew 40 percent a year. By the end of the first half-year the profit reached EEK 624 million. The amount of loan and leasing increased 49 percent. The number of SEB Eesti Ühispank surpassed the limit of 700,000.
