Pant turned Tallink into Estonian biggest company
Tallink’s CEO Enn Pant admitted after Tallink bought Silja Line that he is very satisfied with this result. Contract was signed on Sunday; price of the deal was EUR 450 million and 5 million Tallink Group’s shares. Pant says that after the merging of two shipping companies, the biggest shipping company of the Baltic Sea will be born.

Companies showed good growth in turnover and profit
Net turnover of companies’ sale increased 22% in 1Q 2006 compared to 1Q of 2005; profit grew 40%, informs Statistics Department. Net turnover of sale was EEK 118.3 billion in 1Q. Turnover grew on all sectors; growth was the biggest in fishery, real estate business and renting business, also in building and mining industry companies. Nearly 38,000 companies that operate in Estonia made EEK 9.7 billion profit. Companies invested EEK 7.7 billion, investments were mainly made into buildings and machinery.
