287,862 foreign tourists visited Estonia in June
Compared to May, number of tourists grew by 70,000 in June, reaching up to 300,000.
According to the statistics board, 215,974 tourists stayed the night at local accommodation establishments. 44 percent of accommodated tourists came from Finland, 27 percent from Estonia and the rest from other foreign countries. 59 of accommodated tourists were here for vacation, 20 percent for duty assignment.

Estonia had one of the biggest import growths in the EU
In first five months of this year, import in Estonia grew 19percent, which is one of the biggest growths in the EU.
EU’s biggest import increase was in Latvia - 24 percent.

Estonian industrial production up 6 percent in July year-on-year
In July 2004 the industrial production in Estonia increased both compared to the previous month and compared to the same month of the previous year. In July 2004 compared to June, the seasonally adjusted industrial production in Estonia increased 3 percent. The production decreased in mining and in energy production, and increased in manufacturing.

Employment in Estonia continued to grow in the second quarter
The number of employed persons in Estonia grew to 595,000 in the second quarter, reported the statistical office. According to the Estonian Labour Force Survey, in the 2nd quarter of 2004, 595,000 persons of the population aged 15–74 were employed.

Unemployment decreased
The unemployment rate for the second quarter of 2004 in Estonia was 10 percent, reported the statistical office. In comparison, unemployment rate in the second quarter 2003 was 10.7 percent. In the region of the highest unemployment, in North-eastern Estonia, the unemployment rate decreased remarkably compared to the previous quarter (from 20.6 percent to 17.9 percent).

Eesti Post received a profit of EEK 20
Eesti Post, Estonian state postal company, ended the first half with a profit of EEK 20.1 million, an increase of 60.2 percent year-on-year. Jüri Ehasalu, chairman of the supervisory board of Eesti Post, said that the company's performance is fully in line with the targets set by the supervisory board.

In the first half-year, AS Estreftransservice earned EEK 2.1million of net profit by the turnover of EEK 42.3 million. Last year, company’s profit reached EEK 0.2 million. AS Estreftransservice expedites international railroad freight.

The net profit of AS Eskaro, manufacturer of paints, varnishes and fills, amounted EEK 9.6 million by the net turnover of EEK 75 million in the first half-year. The profit in respective period last year reached EEK 0.4 million.
